Active Release Technique

Muscle Start Position Manual Therapy Method
Tensor Fasciae Latae Flexion hip and knee in sidelying position to minimize tension (1) Recognize the maxillary hip extension, knee flexion by passive movement for muscle stretching
(2) After applying pressure to the pain trigger point, move to the position where the muscle is shortened again
(3) Instructs you to remain active and stay active while stretching your muscles

Iliopsoas Flexion hip and knee in sidelying position to minimize tension (1) Recognize the maxillary hip extension, knee extension by passive movement for muscle stretching
(2) After applying pressure to the pain trigger point, move to the position where the muscle is shortened again
(3) Instructs you to remain active and stay active while stretching your muscles

Piriformis Extension hip and knee in sidelying position to minimize tension (1) Recognize the maxillary hip extension, external rotation and knee extension by passive movement for muscle stretching
(2) After applying pressure to the pain trigger point, move to the position where the muscle is shortened again
(3) Instructs you to remain active and stay active while stretching your muscles

Gluteus Medius Extension hip and knee in sidelying position to minimize tension (1) Recognize the maxillary hip flexion, external rotation and knee flexion by passive movement for muscle stretching
(2) After applying pressure to the pain trigger point, move to the position where the muscle is shortened again
(3) Instructs you to remain active and stay active while stretching your muscles

Gluteus Minimus Extension hip and knee in sidelying position to minimize tension (1) Recognize the maxillary hip flexion, internal rotation and knee flexion by passive movement for muscle stretching
(2) After applying pressure to the pain trigger point, move to the position where the muscle is shortened again
(3) Instructs you to remain active and stay active while stretching your muscles
